I want to work my way up to a job where I can make a difference to how whole organisations are run. I’d like to be head of sustainability for a big company or maybe a government advisor

I wish I knew! My first objective is finishing my PhD, then I’m not sure where I’ll go from there.

Not having an overall objective is scary, but also good – I like having the flexibility to learn and grow, and find my way as I learn what I like. There’s so many different types of job out there, you never know what’s around the corner.

Ultimately I’d like to be good at what I do, and keep getting better!

      Hi
My career objective was to find a job I love doing, which I have.

      Hi BrightSpark 🙂

I don’t really know! At the moment, my main objective is finishing my PhD and getting my research published so lots of people can read it and build on it in the future (I’ll be ‘googleable’ too which is pretty cool!)

When I finish my PhD, I’m not too sure what my overall career objective is! I’ve had objectives before but they always change – the truth is you don’t know what opportunities are around the corner. So in some ways it’s good to not have something set in stone. At the moment I’d love to go back to working on big international projects and my research will be finished just in time for High Speed 2 in the UK so it’d be great to be able to use my experience on a project like that, but like I said – watch this space!!
