      I have had one invention, which I developed a few years ago, I have developed a working prototype. I can’t tell you much as it is top secret and I don’t have a patent on it yet.

      Hmm, sounds like Mark could be the next James Dyson!! I’m intrigued!
      I haven’t got any inventions ready to patent. But I did come up with a plan for a German city about how they could get their citizens to use less energy and to buy more renewable energy.
      Do you remember the Ice Bucket Challenge was going viral a few years ago?
      I used the idea that you can motivate people via social media to do good things and my team and I came up with a plan for how the city could do something similar.
      We nearly got a trademark registered for the brand we created but in the end we didnt have enough money 🙁

      Hi BISMa!

      I’ve not really made an invention unfortunately and I have designed a couple of things I’m proud of. As part of my job, I’ve designed special systems to stop big excavations collapsing when people are in them which I’m pretty proud of. Seeing the scale and size of the holes is amazing – they’re the height of 8 double decker buses! (you can see the size of them on my profile) Knowing that my designs have kept people safe is amazing 🙂

      Hi!

      I haven’t yet invented anything new really. Often engineering is about taking what already exists and making it work better, rather than inventing something new. As a chemical engineer, you might find smart ways to improve a process so that it is more efficient, costs less money, uses less resource, or is more environmentally friendly.

      Something I’ve taken pride in was while I was working for oil and gas company during my placement year from university. The team I worked in used to help out teams and oil production facilities all over the world. I did one project where I was advising the commercial part of the business on something technical. They liked what I did and I was ask to do something more for them. Here I was, aged 21 and giving expert advice! Suddenly I saw what it meant to be an expert, and the pride that comes with that.
