      The Solar road project has the potential to help everyone. It will generate electricity from another source. It will allow people who are not connected to the electricity grid to have electricity. It is not as intrusive as either wind turbines or solar panels in a field.

      Hi Jack,
      My work will most directly help Sainsburys because I’m focussing in their buildings and I advise them on what I’ve found out.
      But it’s also about tackling climate change which will help everyone.
      And because I’m doing the work as a doctorate instead of privately for Sainsburys, the results all get published so any company could benefit from thatz

      Hi Jack 🙂

      The work I’ve done so far as an Engineer has helped people like you and me. I’ve worked on projects building motorway bridges, expanding roads so we’re not delayed and stuck in traffic, sewerage treatment plants, buildings like new schools or houses and underground train systems – they all benefit and improve the lives of us or others around us.

      Now I’m doing research, my research is probably more helping the rail industry to make sure they can safely design the train lines and understand when we might need maintenance and repairs on the line in the future. From this research, it will help us eventually! When the train lines are built we’ll be able to get from London to Manchester super fast, and more importantly safely! We shouldn’t have lots of delays and repairs to the rail network and the journey should be comfortable 🙂

      The research I am doing at the moment is looking at a sustainable way to produce hydrogen. Hydrogen production is responsible for around 3% of all industrial greenhouse gas emissions around the world – quite a lot when you think it is only one chemical! So improving it will potentially make a useful contribution to reducing climate change, and so help everyone.

      It will also help the companies that produce hydrogen, because hopefully the process will be much better for them in lots of ways – more efficient, more flexible and cheaper too.
