To be honest, I’m not sure! In three years I will hopefully have completed my PhD. Then hopefully in 10 years I’ll either be working as an expert in a company, or perhaps still at university as a lecturer teaching and researching.

      That’s a good question.

Since 10 years will be too early to retire, I would hope that I am reaching Director level within my company, working on some of the largest projects around the world.

      Hi Amity 🙂

I’ve got three years left of my PhD so that’s my immediate goal! After that, I want to start progressing as a professional Engineer either in research or industry – I’d like to stay as a ‘technical’ person (maybe even an expert!) rather than be involved in lots of management 🙂

      Hi Amity,
In 10 years time it’s going to be 2026; my oldest will just have become a teenager and I will be planning what to do for my 20th wedding anniversary!
Maybe I’ll take my wife on a round the world trip to celebrate?!
But I guess you’re referring to my work?
By then I might have started my own company. It’ll be a company that advises other organisations how to have a positive impact on the environment. I’d like to bring together companies that are normally each other’s competitors and get them to work together on setting targets for their industry to reduce the negative impacts on the environment and increase the amount of positive stuff they are doing.
To be honest the idea of starting a company is pretty scary. But I think you have to set yourself goals that get you out of your comfort zone!
